- #### Requirements ###########################################################
-
- You need at least Kickstart 2.04, Reqtools.library (V38), LZ and
- ARP.library, of which LZ 1.92, Reqtools.library V38 and ARP.library
- are included.
-
- LZ is started by executing "LZ" directly. Please have it around in
- your C directory or in the same directory.
-
-
- #### Features ###############################################################
-
- ° Auto-detaching from CLI and Workbench
-
- ° Extract files with or without pathnames from an archive
- ° Add files to a new or old archive
- ° Test the contents of an archive
-
- ° Can use LHArc, LHA and LZ compression (LZ handles this)
-
-
- #### Usage ##################################################################
-
- This chapter is divided in three pieces. First the adding of files
- is covered, then the extraction and finally the testing.
-
- I - Add Files To A New Or Old Archive
-
- 1. First select the "Choose Archive..." gadget. For an old file, browse
- through the directories until you've found it. Click on OK.
- For a new file, move to the directory where you want the file,
- then !type! in the name of the archive that must be created. Click on
- OK to finish.
-
- 2. Secondly select "Choose Files...". Browse the directory list and set
- a directory. Then you can -optionally- enter a file mask (or just
- click ONE file to pack only one) at the file prompt. Select OK.
-
- 3. Third press "Execute LZ!". Then press "Add". Next you will be asked
- if you want to delete the source files afterwards. Click your answer.
- Next you may set recursive collection of files (include sub-
- directories.) Then the compression technique is asked. Select LZ for
- the !BEST! compression, the other are there for compatibility reasons.
- Select them at will.
-
- 4. LZ is executed with the set options. Please note that you can
- cancel the process by pressing CTRL-C. Finally press ENTER to return
- to the shell.
-
-
- II - Extract Files With Or Without Pathnames From An Archive
-
- 1. Select "Choose Archive..." first. This goes the same as with
- adding, only you !MUST! specify an existing file.
-
- 2. Select "Destination Path..." secondly. Pick your destination path,
- by simply moving to it, and then pressing OK.
-
- 3. Now "Execute LZ!". Very easy this one. Follow the directions on
- screen, pointing your choice by pressing the approppriate gadget.
- Press "Extract", choose your kind of extraction (without full
- pathnames, with full pathnames or delete.) Then the recursive
- collection question and finally the compression. Make sure you use the
- right compression or else you might get a "Corrupt Archive" error.
-
-
- III - Test The Contents Of An Archive
-
- 1. This one is particularly easy. When you've just created an archive,
- just "Execute LZ!" again and now choose "Test". Fill in the remaining
- questions (recurse, compression technique.) That does the trick.
-
- 2. Otherwise, just "Choose Archive..." like described before and then
- "Execute LZ!" with the "Test" options. Again complete the rest of the
- questions and there it rolls.
-
-
- #### Known Bugs #############################################################
-
- ° When you CANCEL a FileRequester, the dir set in that Requester
- will be used instead of discarded.
- ° Showing of Paths is not done. Only the file-names are shown in the
- window. The -None Specified- is shown when you just supply a
- directory.
